Most people will read when they have to, but often people will have narrow comfort zones and they do not read outside of these fields.
Ben Okri was asked to compile a list of 10 books students should read before they left school, but he presented the following. Be adventurous! Read the books your parents love. Read the books your parents hate. Have one or two authors that are important, that speak to you; and make their works a secret passion. Read widely, for fun, stimulation, escape. Don't read what everyone else is reading. Check them out later, cautiously. Read what you’re not supposed to read.
